Anne-F Jacques, Jarrett Martineau & Joel Lavoie
Anne-F Jacques is a scrap metal worker and sound artist based in Montreal, Canada. She is interested in amplification, oblique interactions between materials and construction of various contraptions and idiosyncratic systems. Her particular focus is on low technology, trivial objects and unpolished sounds. She regularly realizes installations, performances and ephemeral interventions. She has worked amongst others with Tsonami Festival (Chile), Experimental Intermedia (New York), Ftarri (Tokyo), CTM (Berlin), MediaLabMX (Mexico), Centrale for Contemporary Arts (Brussels), High Zero (Baltimore) and MEM (Bilbao).
Jarrett Martineau is a dynamic nêhiyaw (Plains Cree) and Denesųłiné creative force, a leading voice in Indigenous music, media, and culture. Based in Vancouver, this multi-hyphenate holds advanced degrees exploring Indigenous resurgence through art and media. Currently Head Curator at UBC's Chan Centre, he also curates for VIFF and Indian Summer Festival. Martineau created and hosts the award-winning CBC Music program Reclaimed and co-created the Imaginarium podcast. Previously Vancouver's inaugural Music Officer, he co-founded RPM and the RISE documentary series. He will participate in Suoni also as CHXMERAS and RITUAL PURIFICATION and is an artist-in-residence for the Trading Places: Un Échange program, a collaboration between Suoni Per Il Popolo and Vancouver's NOW Society, fostering musical exchange between the two cities.
Joël Lavoie is a composer, performer, sound artist and sound engineer based in Montréal/Tiohtá:ke, Canada. He is part of the A/V trio mesocosm with Philippe Vandal and Emma Forgues. He released music, on Mikroclimat (CA), Phinery (DK), Aosmosis (DE), Kohlenstoff (CA), Everyday Ago (CA) and Jeunesse cosmique (CA).
Besides composition and sound design for theater and dance, he pursues his career as sound engineer ; a practice that has brought him to apply his sonic approach onto the world of performing arts. He has been awarded live sound of the year by ADISQ (CA) in 2023. His works and collaborations have been heard in various festivals and concerts in Canada, France, Lithuania, Germany, UK, South Korea, Poland, Sweden and Mexico.
