Cordelia Donovan
Cordelia Donovan is a vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for blending raw emotion with intricate melodies. As the frontwoman of Cordie M. Sad, she crafts vivid, immersive performances that explore themes of grief, resilience, and transformation.
Originally from Manitoba, she studied classical percussion and voice at Brandon University before moving to Vancouver, where she fell in love with the city's music scene. She founded The Gander Jam, a groove-based improv jam that fosters musical experimentation and collaboration.
Beyond her original work, Cordelia has headlined emo nights and fronted Amy Winehouse and Billy Talent tribute acts. She’s performed in various roles, including lead vocalist, background vocalist, percussionist, and, most recently, has begun her journey as a bass guitarist.She also co-released "Acceptance", a jazz-pop album with Winnipeg-based pianist Connor Derraugh, showcasing her love for storytelling.
Passionate about vocal experimentation, she incorporates vocal effect pedals and dynamic techniques into her live music, always pushing the boundaries of sound and expression.
