T. Gowdy
Timothy Gowdy is a Canadian music producer and audio/visual artist, whose interests lie in the use of sound feedback to augment interactivity in sound environments, and the deconstruction and re-synthesis of urban sonic environments.
After graduating from the Schulich School of Music in Montreal in 2007, Gowdy became a freelance producer and sound engineer; he is credited with over seventy album productions between 2008 and 2020, including Ada Lea, Ensemble and SUUNS. He was 2019’s Artist-in-Residence at Montreal’s Eastern Bloc Data Salon XXXIII, and his live audio/visual installations were exhibited in galleries in Poland and Germany, as well as Canadian and Spanish editions of MUTEK Festival. T. Gowdy’s third album, Therapy With Colour, was released via Constellation in May 2020.
In 2021, Gowdy’s Experialism was exhibited at The European Center for the Arts in Dresden, and at the Suoni Por Il Popolo music festival in Montreal. His site-specific piece Peribitive (for NEWNOW Festival in Essen) premiered in the decommissioned Zollverein coal mine, a world heritage site. Gowdy did sound design for Atalaya, which was presented at Festival Cinema La Rochelle in France, in 2021. Further performances in 2021 included Timezones Festival. He released his fourth album, Miracles, in 2022 via Constellation, and played MUTEK and Transart Festivals in 2023.
Gowdy composed for Common Pear, a film set to premiere at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam in 2025.
