YlangYlang & Così e Così
YlangYlang & Così e Così: These two solo artists are core parts of the collective No Exist, and have recorded and performed together many times and are not to be mistaken as a provisional project. The two focus on their unique dynamism of 21st century existentialism and sad-bliss ambient poetics, creating “museum cuts of dark sophisti-pop”. They’ve released two conceptual mini-albums: The Craft of Coupling and The Science of Separation, and completed the trilogy with the album Full-Length Recording Of A Relationship.
YlangYlang is the solo project of Catherine Debard, who has roots in Montreal’s experimental music scene, a community in which she has been actively involved for over a decade. She has released records internationally on labels such as Crash Symbols (USA), Phinery (DK), and ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ (RU). She has also created and produced video game soundtracks for Montreal artist Palgal, audio hypnosis sessions for Ascension Hypnosis, and has given many creative music workshops. Debard has toured extensively, was part of Red Bull Music Academy at the National Music Center, and more recently, she participated as a part of Mue in A discard studies, a collaboration with visual artist Katherine Melançon, presented for Mutek Montreal.
Così e Così is the solo musical project/alias of the nomadic Canadian-born artist V. Estella Ferrari, who has been writing and performing under various names over 15 years, and has toured lowly, hidden haunts to theaters and festivals across the globe. He manages the elusive collective No Exist, and is one half of the live broken club duo Euphonic Alliances Ltd. Their last release, In A Dream Interrupted, was a musical album and 60 page book of prose poetry, an anti-mythology romantic tragedy centered around Jeanne Hébuterne and Amedeo Modigliani.
